    Overview

    This course gives delegates the understanding of how plant process drawings relate to the operations of a working plant.

    Programme Content and Key Areas

    • Balloon symbols.
    • Instrument loop numbers.
    • Flow measuring devices.
    • Manual control valves.
    • P&ID diagrams.

    Learning Outcomes

    To provide delegates with the knowledge to interpret piping and instrument diagrams to BS 1646 standards. At the end of the course the delegate should:
    • Recognise and understand the line types used in the standards.
    • Recognise and understand the types of instrument ‘balloon’ symbols used.
    • Understand the make-up of instrument loop numbers.
    • Recognise and understand the symbols used in indicate flow measuring devices.
    • Recognise and understand the symbols used for manual and control valves.
    • Recognise and understand the line types used to indicate different transmission signals.
    • Have practised interpreting typical examples of P&ID for a large scale training rig.
