This course has been specifically designed for operators and technicians who would like to gain a clear understanding of the principles of process safety.

    Overview

Process Safety Management for Operations (PSMO) has been designed to focus on what really matters to you and your operations staff. Participants will focus on site specific hazards and control measures as they apply to them, and demonstrate how they contribute to keeping the process safe.

Your internal trainer will be trained to deliver PSMO throughout your workforce on a license based arrangement.  Delivered using clear language and practical workshop activities, the course will review actual incidents and near misses and explore how the lessons learned can be applied to your own setting.

    How is it delivered?

The PSMO training programme is broken down into six manageable two hour modules.

There are two options available that will meet with the requirements of the Process Safety Management for Operations training standard.

    1. The Licensed Training Package

You can buy a company licence to use the Cogent Skills PSMO training package to deliver this course in the workplace through one of your internal trainers. We will train your internal trainer(s) to deliver the course material to the Process Safety Management Competence Programme Board standard. Your trainer can then adapt the content to your business requirements and roll out the training internally. The licensed toolkit will enable you to integrate training delivery into your working patterns and roll it out at a time and pace suitable to you.

Each trainer must attend the Cogent Skills’ two day PSMO Familiarisation Course, on completion of which they will be licensed to deliver the PSMO training in your workplace. As part of the package Cogent Skills will provide additional support for your trainer to ensure best practice.

    How much does it cost?

    A company licence fee of £5,000 +VAT

For the first year, including 50 delegate packs, the training and assessment of one Licensed Trainer plus the provision of their trainer resource pack.

    SME Package £3,500

Includes annual license and 20 delegate packs

Extra delegate packs £75 (each per delegate)

There is an Annual License Renewal of £500 and £250 for additional trainers

    2. Cogent Skills Assured Training Providers

    How is it delivered?

A Cogent Assured Training Provider will deliver PSMO on your site or at a location chosen by you. Ahead of the training, a site visit is carried out by the delivery partner to establish an understanding of your major accident hazards and risks.

They will consult with you to contextualise the PSMO training content to bring the process safety message closer to home, and raise awareness to emphasise how your personnel make an essential contribution to the safe management of the major accident hazards on your site.

The training then takes place over a two-day period with a maximum of 12 delegates per course. Certification is awarded after the successful completion of the online assessment. All delegates will be given exclusive access to a suite of video case studies designed to reinforce the learning for up to three years.

    How much does it cost?

Each course of up to 12 delegates costs £4,250 +VAT plus contextualisation days at a cost of £1,250 + VAT per day.

(The number of contextualisation days required would be determined after consultation with an Account Manager - this is usually one day but depends on the size and complexities of the site)
