    Overview

    Poor communication can be a huge obstacle that prevents teams, managers and leaders moving from good to great performance. The skills around communication are rooted in understanding what makes you communicate in the way that you do, but also in the impact, this has on others around you.

    • The Communication process and how this impacts on the way we behave with others
    • Personal drivers and filters around communication – The impact of drivers such as ‘hurry up’ on how well we communicate and understand others
    • Key principles of effective relationships – The importance of good communication and building your confidence to communicate effectively
    • Developing positive discussions – What is your starting point?  What are your outcomes for any communication?  Introducing the Parent/Adult/Child concept
    • Motivating others – What are the factors that motivate different individuals?  How can you appeal to their motivators?
    • Factors which engage and disengage – What is the gap between what employers and managers think team members want and what the team members say they need?
    • Preparing for presentations, briefings and team talks – structuring your approach
