    This Course is Aimed at

    This course is for new and existing Supervisors who are responsible for managing a team and could face difficult decisions in the course of their work.

    Overview

    This one day course will equip Process Industry Supervisors with the tools, techniques and confidence needed when preparing for and engaging in a difficult discussion or potential conflict situation.  It will teach you how to manage this through to a successful conclusion including managing personal feelings and relationships.

    Leading in the Process Industries (LIPI) is a comprehensive set of courses designed to meet the requirements of new and existing supervisors within the industry sector.  The course covers the fundamental principles required by supervisors to perform their duties and to help them develop their leadership competencies.  LIPI moves away from technical knowledge and develops supervisors in the wider aspects of their role.

    Pre Course Activity - One hour pre-reading. Participants will be asked to bring with them an example of a difficult conversation they are expecting to have in the near future to work through during the face to face workshop.

    • Understand the range of difficult conversations you may encounter in your role as a supervisor and have the confidence to face them
    • Know how to prepare for a difficult discussion; when to speak and when to listen and how to be clear and concise with communication
    • Know how to be a good listener and communicator without blame or making pre-judgements
    • Feel comfortable discussing feelings - theirs and yours
