The Service

In accessing Cogent’s materials, you as a user are accepting our terms and conditions. Cogent Skills reserve the right to change or update these terms and conditions at any time, therefore regular viewing of this page is recommended. Your access must be through an approved organisation email address. Where your employing organisation has purchased and issued you with an ‘access key code’ you must enter that key code when clicking on the designated course otherwise access is given to you by an ‘access password’. Once you have logged in you will automatically be prompted to change your password.

Accuracy and Continuity

Cogent Skills has taken every reasonable step possible to check for completeness and/or accuracy of the information but makes no promise and/or warranty in ensuring that the information is accurate at all times.

Warranties

Cogent Skills disclaims any express or implied warranty in providing registered users of any materials, information, graphics, products, or processes contained therein. The user will assume all risks of verifying all materials and/or information used and/or relied on from the materials. Cogent Skills makes no express or implied warranty nor assumes responsibility in the use of this service or its contents for its accuracy, completeness, currency, its use for any purpose, nor would that such items or the use of such items not violate or infringe the rights of others.

The materials may contain links and/or information from sites and/or pages not owned, controlled, or maintained by Cogent Skills. Although, permission will have been sought for third party materials, Cogent Skills cannot be held responsible for any information, endorsements, materials, or personal opinions appearing on such external sites and/or pages that are not controlled, sponsored, or approved by Cogent Skills.

No one may copy or distribute the information contained therein without the express consent of Cogent Skills. Cogent Skills has taken every reasonable step to protect their own and third party Intellectual Propriety Rights, including copyright. Neither, Cogent Skills or its employees shall be held liable for any damages that may arise from viewing, distributing, or copying of materials contained within this course.

Data Protection Act 1998

Your personal information will be held and used in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. Cogent Skills will not disclose such information to any unauthorised person or body but where appropriate will use such information in carrying out its various functions and services. Where exceptions apply, is in accordance with the contract between Cogent Skills and external organisations and any collected information will be shared with the individual external organisations for the purpose of monitoring staff usage. Cogent Skills may also use this data in connection with the prevention or detection of fraud or other crime.

Refunds

In accordance with Cogent Skills Financial Regulations, refunds will be at the discretion of the Cogent Skills Director of Finance. For refunds, organisations must provide a letter of cancellation along with proof of payment, which must be received within 7 days of enrolling their staff member on to the materials.

Halting Access

Cogent Skills reserves the right to temporarily halt access to a particular course/materials/solutions due to scheduled upgrades or circumstances beyond its control. Organisations will be notified at least one week in advance of any scheduled maintenance in line with their Contractor Service Level Agreement.
