This 45 - 60 minute activity aims to inspire pupils about STEM, establish what they already know about STEM and STEM careers and challenge any myths or stereotypes they have.

In this lesson pupils will:

  • Discuss famous STEM professionals and STEM discoveries and how they have impacted our lives e.g. Tim Berners – Lee who invented the World Wide Web or the discovery of X-Rays.
  • Look at the science or engineering behind everyday items such as Gore-Tex or fragrances to show how important STEM is and how it improves our lives.
  • Team exercise to draw a STEM professional and their workplace in order to challenge myths and stereotypes.
